Legendary rock icons Brian May and Roger Taylor returned to the renowned LA Forum (Queen last performed there in 1982) in conjunction with vocal virtuoso Adam Lambert, and treated the audience to a mind blowing spectacle. The capacity crowd in turn responded with a rapturous reception, prompting Brian May to comment just prior to performing the beautiful and emotional ‘Love of My Life’, “I don’t know how it is for you, but this, for me, is a thrill. I never really thought this would happen. It’s over 30 years since we trod these boards and I’m thrilled that the Forum is back, I’m thrilled that we are back and I’m thrilled that you guys are back because you’re the best!!”
Queen + Adam Lambert have embarked on a 24 stop North American tour which will make the summer of 2014 both magical and memorable. Audiences will experience many of the massive anthems and beloved ballads–interspersed with some intriguing, lesser known songs–from Queen’s extensive catalogue.
A few quotes from Brian, Roger and Adam about the tour and working together:
Brian May –
“Let’s ROCK those beautiful arenas JUST ONE MORE TIME!”*
“Of course, we’re taking (late singer) Freddie (Mercury’s) material, and it’s alive, it’s kicking, it’s not a fossil, and all the stuff we worked on together, it is still organically growing, and so I think to take Freddie’s material out on tour as well as our own is a great opportunity.”**
“You know that Adam has a great respect for Freddie and I know if Freddie saw Adam perform he’d have a great respect for Adam too ‘cause Adam has a matchless instrument and he’s a great performer so Freddie would absolutely be into it, I have no doubt.” **
Roger Taylor –
“Adam is the most incredible frontman,”. “He’s a great diva, and I mean that in the best possible way. We need that theatrically.” ***
“To me, diva means an extraordinary, outrageously theatrical, brilliant performer.”***
“He (Adam) does bring his own approach and he has this amazing range, a gymnastic, beautiful tone and he really fits our material so well.” ***
Referencing their acclaimed set at the iHeart Radio Musical Festival in September 2013: “It really felt like Adam has a great chemistry with us and delivers our songs in his [in]imitable way with his extraordinary and voice.” **
Adam Lambert –
“I’m completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon”. “The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in North America is so beautifully surreal. I’m honored to be able to pay my respects to Freddie’s memory; he’s a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display.” ***
“These guys are responsible for these iconic songs. The songs that Queen has released, everybody knows these songs, these songs are part of the fabric of people’s lives so getting to be on stage with them and bringing these songs back to life and seeing the reactions on fans’ faces that’s what this is all about.” **
